stethoscope

It is an instrument for listening to the sounds made within the body, typically consisting of a hollow disc that transmits the sound through hollow tubes to earpieces.

Example: During the physical exam, the child's blood pressure is measured, and a stethoscope is used to listen to sounds made by the heart and blood flowing through the arteries.

A thin tube that can be inserted in the body to treat diseases or perform a surgical procedure.

Example: During the test, the child exhales and the spirometer measures the airflow, comparing lung capacity to the normal range for the child's age and race.

Dialysis of the blood to remove toxic substances or metabolic wastes from the bloodstream; used in the case of kidney failure.

Example: In the case of patients on hemodialysis, physicians perform surgery to create a fistula.
